Thyroid Tests (TSH, T3, T4) and Treatment

Thyroid tests in Houston, TX with no doctor's order: TSH, T3 and T4 blood tests, diagnosis of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, treatment and follow-up in Spanish. Walk-in, no insurance.

Your thyroid regulates your energy, weight and mood. When it works too much or too little, symptoms appear that affect your daily life. At Clínica Hispana Cruz #3 we evaluate your thyroid with blood tests without a doctor's order, start the right treatment and follow up in Spanish.

What's included?

  • Symptom evaluation and neck exam
  • Thyroid function blood tests (TSH, free T4 and T3)
  • Thyroid antibodies when the doctor suspects an autoimmune cause
  • Diagnosis of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism
  • Starting and adjusting treatment
  • Periodic follow-up with TSH monitoring

Signs your thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism)

Constant fatigue, unexplained weight gain, feeling cold, dry skin, hair loss, constipation, low mood or slow thinking, and irregular periods.

Signs your thyroid is overactive (hyperthyroidism)

Unintended weight loss, palpitations, nervousness or anxiety, hand tremor, feeling hot and sweaty, insomnia and diarrhea.

How is the thyroid checked?

With a blood test. TSH is the main test; free T4 and T3 complete the panel, and antibodies help identify conditions such as Hashimoto's or Graves' disease. No fasting is needed: we draw the sample on the spot, walk-in and without a doctor's order, and let you know when the result is ready. Thyroid evaluation is also part of our Women's Hormone Panel package.

Treatment and follow-up

Hypothyroidism is treated with levothyroxine, a daily pill taken on an empty stomach. When starting or changing the dose, TSH is checked after 6 to 8 weeks until the right dose is found; after that a check every 6 to 12 months is enough. For hyperthyroidism the doctor prescribes antithyroid medication and, when needed, refers you to an endocrinologist. You can fill your prescription at our pharmacy.
