Frequently Asked Questions

Any cut through the skin leaves some mark, but the incision is kept as small as possible and lined up with the natural creases of the skin. Following the aftercare instructions, not picking at scabs and protecting the area from the Texas sun for several months all help the scar fade and flatten.

Usually not. Local anesthesia numbs only the area being treated, so you stay fully awake and alert. The exception is a procedure on the foot or hand you use to drive, where a bulky dressing or soreness can make driving unsafe; in that case, bring someone along or plan a ride.

Often not right away. An inflamed, painful cyst is usually drained first to calm the infection, which is handled through [abscess drainage](/services/drenaje-abscesos), and the cyst wall is removed later once the area has settled. Taking it out in a calm stage lowers the chance that it fills up and comes back.
